Ranchi: On the occasion of 12th International Yoga Day, a grand program was organized at the Golden Jubilee Convocation Pavilion of Ranchi University on Sunday. The program, which started at 6 am, was attended by students, NSS volunteers, yoga instructors and people who have made outstanding contributions in the field of yoga. An atmosphere of awareness and positive energy towards Yoga was seen in the entire campus. The theme of International Yoga Day this year is Yoga for Healthy Aging, which aims to inspire people to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle.
Yoga is helpful in maintaining mental balance
Before starting yoga, Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari said that yoga has been an important part of Indian culture and way of life for centuries. In the present times, amidst increasing stress and mental pressure, yoga helps people to maintain mental balance. He wished everyone present on Yoga Day and gave the message to adopt yoga for a healthy life. Said that regular practice of yoga keeps the body healthy and the mind also gets peace.
Effective means of keeping body and mind healthy
The guests who came to do yoga said that increasing screen time in the digital age is affecting people’s health. In such times, yoga has emerged as an effective medium to keep both body and mind healthy. He said that yoga inspires a person to live a disciplined life and also helps in increasing self-confidence. On this occasion, players who excelled in the field of Yoga were also honoured. He was honored with a citation and a memento.
During the program, group yoga practice was organized, in which all the participants practiced various yoga asanas and pranayam under the guidance of instructors. The message of healthy lifestyle, discipline and mental peace was given through yoga practice. Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth, Ranchi MLA CP Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Ajay Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University Prof. were present in the program.
