New Delhi, January 18 (IANS). Many essential vitamins and minerals are required to keep the body healthy and functioning properly. Everyone talks about vitamins and minerals, but to remove dirt from the body, a ‘silent hero’ is needed, whose name is fiber. Fiber helps in digestion and keeping the heart healthy.

In today’s lifestyle, everyone talks about protein and calcium but ignores fiber, despite knowing how important it is. Fiber has been described as very important in both Ayurveda and modern science, because without fiber neither digestion remains fine nor the body remains healthy for a long time. That is why it is called ‘silent hero’.

Now let us know what fiber is and where it can be found. Fiber is a carbohydrate obtained from plants that helps in simplifying digestion and helps in removing intestinal waste from the body. Due to this, the food does not break down and become constipated, nor does it remain stored in the intestines for a long time. This is the reason why it keeps the digestive system active. In Ayurveda, fiber is considered the enemy of toxins.

There are two types of fibres. The first is water soluble, which when mixed with water works to control sugar and cholesterol in the blood and the second is water insoluble, that is, which helps the stool not to become hard, which does not cause constipation in the stomach.

If there is a deficiency of fiber in the body, then stomach related problems like frequent constipation and gas formation, food not being digested properly, rapid weight gain, blood sugar imbalance, increased cholesterol, fatigue and lethargy, problems like piles and fissures start increasing.

Now the question is from where the fiber can be obtained. Fiber is found in all types of fruits and vegetables. Apart from this, fiber is found in chia seeds, oats, gram, kidney beans and bran flour. It is important to consume fiber daily. Take at least 100 grams of fiber rich diet.
