Indore, March 13 (IANS). The Madhya Pradesh government on Friday said Indore’s multi-specialty Vedanta Hospital has been suspended from the ‘Ayushman Bharat Niramayam’ scheme after it seriously violated the standards set under the scheme.
Madhya Pradesh government informed that Vedanta Hospital, Indore, has been suspended from Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ scheme. This action has been taken due to extremely serious violations.
According to the government, the hospital was inspected by the Chief Executive Officer of Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ in which the condition of operation theaters was found to be very poor and unhygienic. Many irregularities and violations of central government guidelines came to light during the inspection.
An official said that the hospital did not even provide emergency health services to the patients. Based on this, the Chief Executive Officer immediately suspended Vedanta Hospital, rendering it no longer able to provide services to patients under the scheme.
Officials said the hospital, despite being empaneled in surgical oncology, did not have a tumor board available, did not have proper food arrangements for patients, lacked adequate staff, and lacked publicity material. All of these financial and procedural deficiencies are considered serious by the state health agency.
The government has warned that further action will be taken ranging from temporary suspension to permanent removal of the hospital from the scheme.
Vedanta Hospital is a multi-specialty private hospital, known for affordable healthcare services. It is recognized for 24-hour emergency services and free services of critical surgeries under Ayushman Bharat panel.
It is noteworthy that Ayushman Bharat ‘Niramayam’ scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is being implemented in Madhya Pradesh. The scheme provides free health coverage up to Rs five lakh per year to eligible low-income families in the state and covers secondary and tertiary care. The scheme specifically covers below poverty line families, Sambal Yojana beneficiaries and in some cases construction workers.
