Organized under the joint aegis of Women and Child Development Department and Maharashtra State Women Commission, the campaign was inaugurated by State Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare.
Addressing the program, Aditi Tatkare said that Aashadhi Vaari is not only a festival of religious faith but is also an effective medium of social awareness. The minister said that the tradition of Aashadhi Wari, which has been going on for about 800 years in Maharashtra, is a symbol of the teachings of saints and social harmony. Varkari Samaj works to spread the thoughts and culture of saints to the common people. He said that in view of the participation of lakhs of women, arrangements have been made for Hirakani Room, Women Empowerment Centre, Health Room, Toilet, Sanitary Pad Distribution and other necessary facilities on Wari Marg this year.
He instructed the officials that information about these facilities should be made available to as many women as possible through digital Chitraraths. Also, Maharashtra State Women Commission conducted extensive public awareness campaigns to inform women about their rights, legal protection and available helpline services.
Aditi Tatkare said that the state government is working towards strengthening the rights of women farmers through ‘Maharashtra Women Farmers Empowerment Bill-2026’. He said that under this policy, certificates will be provided to landless women farmers, so that they will be able to avail the benefits of government schemes related to agriculture. He described it as the first comprehensive initiative of its kind in the country.
In the program, Nandini Awde, Member Secretary of Maharashtra State Women’s Commission, said that under the campaign, women empowerment, women safety, children’s rights and various government schemes will be promoted through digital Chitraraths of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj on Palkhi Marg. Apart from this, social awareness programs will also be organized through folk art presentations at major stops of Palkhi.
On this occasion, Minister Aditi Tatkare inaugurated the digital Chitraraths prepared for public awareness on both the Palkhi routes. Public representatives, officials, Anganwadi workers, health ambassadors and a large number of women participated in the program.
