New Delhi, June 5 (IANS). International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21 June. In view of Yoga Day, the Ministry of AYUSH is continuously busy in making people aware about Yoga. In this sequence, the Ministry shared a post on social media platform X on Friday and gave information about the importance of Yoga and the benefits of Tadasana.
The Ministry of AYUSH said in its post, “Yoga is not about doing difficult asanas. It is about easy and effortless movements that keep our body flexible. As we age, these yoga asanas should be a part of our everyday life. Tadasana or Mountain Pose is one of the most important beginner asanas of yoga. It gives a gentle stretch to the entire body and improves the body posture.”
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Tadasana provides a mild stretch to the entire body and helps in improving posture. This is considered to be one of the most important starting postures of yoga.
The method of doing Tadasana was also explained in a video shared by the ministry along with the post. It was told in the video that first of all stand straight and raise both your hands up. After this, stretch the whole body by pulling it upwards and keep breathing normally while remaining in the same position for some time.
Earlier on Thursday, the ministry had said that regular yoga practice can prove helpful in providing relief from common problems like lower back pain. Due to hectic lifestyle, habit of sitting for long hours and lack of physical activities, a large number of people are suffering from the problem of back and waist pain. The Ministry of AYUSH has described yoga as a natural and effective solution for such people. According to the ministry, by adopting the mantra of ‘Stay Yoga-Yukt, Stay Disease-Free’, people can improve their health and prevent many health problems.
The Ministry of AYUSH had also suggested some special yogasanas and pranayam to get relief from back and waist pain. These include Ardhachakrasana, Setubandhasana, Katichkrasana, Vakrasana, Bhujangasana and Surya Bhedan Pranayam. Doing these exercises regularly strengthens the back muscles and improves the flexibility of the spine.
