New Delhi, July 19 (IANS). A medical bulletin was issued on Sunday evening regarding the health condition of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk. According to information released by VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, Sonam Wangchuk is being given necessary medical care and her vital health parameters are currently stable.
According to the medical bulletin, a slight improvement has been seen in his blood parameters, but doctors say that it is important to continuously monitor his condition. In view of the stress caused by prolonged fasting and its possible effects on the body, he has been kept under the observation of a multi-disciplinary team of expert doctors.
The hospital administration said that the treating team of doctors from VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital as well as AIIMS, New Delhi are also continuously monitoring his condition. Doctors believe that round-the-clock clinical monitoring is necessary to timely identify and treat any possible health complications after a prolonged fast.
It has been said in the bulletin that all necessary medical facilities are being provided to Sonam Wangchuk as per her need. His clinical condition is being regularly reviewed and doctors are keeping an eye on every change in his health.
Earlier, Sonam Wangchuk’s wife Geetanjali Angmo had approached the Delhi High Court demanding to shift her to a private hospital. At present the High Court has not accepted the demand to shift him from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital. The court had said that Wangchuk’s hospitalization was a decision taken as per the legal process considering health reasons.
Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, on behalf of Sonam Wangchuk, had argued in the court that she should get the facility of hospital and doctor of her choice. At the same time, the government said that a team of expert doctors is monitoring him and full care is being taken regarding his health.
At present, Sonam Wangchuk is under the supervision of doctors in Safdarjung Hospital. According to the hospital administration, his condition is stable and he is continuously being given necessary treatment.
