New Delhi, March 21 (IANS). With the onset of summer comes the craving for cool and refreshing food. In the summer season, juicy fruits are easily available, but vegetables have less freshness.
In such a situation, mint comes to mind, whose fragrance refreshes the mind and its taste is also wonderful. Even if mint is used only to enhance the taste of chutney or raita, it is considered a powerful medicine in Ayurveda. It is no less than a boon for your body during the summer season.
According to Ayurveda, mint balances kapha and pitta and deeply cools the body. Spicy and slightly astringent mint changes the taste of whatever it is mixed with. Mint is also beneficial in the problem of gas formation and headache after meals and can be used in many ways.
In summer, eating heavy and fried food often causes sour belching, heaviness and gas problems. In such a situation, mint can be consumed to get relief from all these problems by reducing the heat in the stomach. Mint soothes the digestive system and also reduces acid. If you are struggling with irritable bowel syndrome then consumption of mint will be most beneficial. It can be taken in chutney and raita.
In the summer season, increasing temperature causes headache and nervousness. Mint has a cooling effect and contains a compound called methyl. As soon as this compound enters the body, it gives a message to the brain that something cold is coming. This is the reason why one feels coolness after eating mint. Consuming mint is also a panacea to avoid heatstroke in summer.
Very few people know that there are benefits not only of eating mint, but also of applying it. If pimples are appearing continuously on the face, then apply mint paste on the affected area. This also removes tanning and cures acne quickly. Apart from this, if the problem of headache persists then mint tea provides relief. Mint tea also helps in reducing stress.
