New Delhi, 6 November (IANS). The fight against a serious disease like cancer can be won not only through medicines, but through the balance of body, mind and lifestyle. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Naturopathy (Natural Medicine) and Yoga play an important role in the treatment of cancer.
In a recent study, it was proved that if yoga, naturopathy and right eating habits are included in the treatment of cancer, then a lot of improvement can be seen in the condition of the patients.
This study was conducted on 116 colon cancer (stage 2 and 3) patients for 18 months. Two groups were formed in this. One group was given only chemotherapy and general psychological counselling, while the other group was given naturopathy, yoga and a balanced diet along with chemotherapy.
The results were shocking. The patients who adopted yoga and naturopathy, the amount of hemoglobin and white blood cells in their blood increased, which improved their immunity. Additionally, their levels of the tumor marker CEA decreased and liver and kidney function improved. Side effects of chemotherapy such as fatigue, nausea and weakness also reduced.
A big change was also seen mentally. The level of anxiety and depression reduced significantly in patients who did yoga and meditation. Their quality of life improved. They started feeling more calm, positive and energetic. The special thing was that the best results were found in patients aged 40 to 50 years. The number of platelets increased in men, while an improvement in white blood cells was seen in women.
Part of the therapy included pranayam, light asanas and cyclic meditation under yoga. Naturopathy used mud packs, hydrotherapy and massage. More attention was given to millets, fruits, vegetables and natural food in the diet.
Let us tell you that today millions of people around the world are fighting a serious disease like cancer. There are many cancer patients in India also. In such a situation, National Cancer Awareness Day is celebrated on 7 November with the aim of increasing people’s awareness about cancer prevention, early detection and treatment.
