New Delhi, May 15 (IANS). In today’s chaotic times, there would hardly be any person who does not have physical or mental problems. But nature has its solution in the form of fruits, flowers and herbs full of medicinal properties. One such gift of nature is Mahua, whose fruits, flowers and seeds are very beneficial for health.

The Environment, Forest and Water Department of the Government of Bihar gives detailed information about the Mahua tree. In Ayurveda, Mahua is considered a precious gift of nature. It is full of nutritional and medicinal properties. Its flowers, fruits and seeds are not only very beneficial for health, but also strengthen the livelihood of people in rural areas.

The department says that Mahua is not only useful for health but also deepens our connection with nature. Mahua is rich in vitamins and minerals, provides relief from cough, swelling and skin diseases, improves digestion and increases energy.

The scientific name of Mahua is Madhuca Indica. It is an extremely useful tree of India, which is mainly famous for its sweet fruits, flowers and seeds. Good amounts of Vitamin C, carotene, calcium, phosphorus and glucose are found in Mahua flowers. These elements make it extremely nutritious. Dried flowers are ground into flour to make bread, pudding or other dishes. Apart from this, sherbet is also made from Mahua flowers.

The oil obtained from Mahua seeds is used for eating, lighting lamps and making medicines. This oil is considered very good for the skin. In Ayurveda, Mahua flowers and fruits are used in the treatment of swelling, cough, cold and various skin diseases. Apart from this, it also helps in strengthening the digestive system, relieving fatigue and increasing the body’s immunity.

The specialty of Mahua tree is that it grows easily even in dry and rocky areas. It is also very important from environmental point of view as it prevents soil erosion and promotes biodiversity. Rural women earn good income by collecting Mahua flowers. The sale of dried flowers and oil strengthens the financial condition of the family.
