New Delhi, March 21 (IANS). Navdurga, worshiped during the nine days of Navratri, is not only a symbol of spiritual power, but she also gives the message of health and balance in our lives. These nine goddesses have been associated with nine Ayurvedic medicinal plants, which are no less than a boon for both body and mind.
Mother Shailputri, who is worshiped on the first day, is believed to be related to myrobalan, which helps in strengthening the digestive system and detoxifying the body. Mother Brahmacharini, who is worshiped on the second day, is believed to be related to Brahmi. This plant is very useful in sharpening the mind and reducing stress. Mother Chandraghanta is worshiped on the third day. The Chandrasoor plant associated with it cools the stomach and provides relief from problems like gas and constipation.
Mother Kushmanda is worshiped on the fourth day. It is believed to be related to Kumhra (Petha), which cools the body and provides energy. Skandamata, worshiped on the fifth day, is related to flaxseed, which balances vata and pitta in the body and is also considered beneficial for heart health. On the sixth day, Mother Katyayani is worshipped, who is related to Moiya. This medicinal plant provides relief from problems related to cough and bile.
Maa Kaalratri, worshiped on the seventh day, is associated with Nagdaun, which is known for its powerful medicinal properties and helps protect against many types of infections. Mahagauri is worshiped on the eighth day, which is related to the Tulsi plant. Tulsi is considered like nectar in Ayurveda, which plays an important role in increasing immunity and protecting from diseases. Mother Siddhidatri, who is worshiped on the ninth day, is related to Shatavari, which removes weakness of the body and provides strength and energy.
