Girls have to go through physical and mental challenges at many stages of life. One of these challenges is the unbearable pain during periods, which often affects their daily life. In such times, yoga poses as an effective and natural solution to provide relief and relaxation.

Problems like pain, cramps, swelling and mood swings are common during periods for girls, which affect their everyday life. Yoga experts believe that regular yoga asanas can provide a lot of relief from these problems. Yoga increases the secretion of endorphin hormones in the body, which acts as a natural pain reliever. This reduces pain, improves mood and also reduces fatigue.

There are many light and comfortable yoga asanas, which can be practiced safely even during periods. This improves blood circulation in the pelvic area, relaxes the muscles, thereby reducing cramps. Experts recommend avoiding vigorous exercise and choosing only light yoga poses. Regular exercise can reduce period pain and not only keep you healthy, but also provide energy during those days.

Balasana or Child’s Pose:- This asana gives a lot of relief during periods. Sitting on your knees, bend forward, rest your forehead on the ground and extend your hands forward. This provides relief to the waist and stomach muscles and reduces pain and cramps. Stay in this posture for 1-2 minutes. It also reduces inflammation and calms the mind.

Supta Baddha Konasana or Reclining Butterfly Pose:- Lying on the back, join the soles of the feet together and open the knees outwards. Take support with your hands. This increases blood flow in the pelvic area and provides relief from cramps as well as swelling. Practice this for 5 to 10 minutes.

Apanasana:- Lying on the back, bring both the knees to the chest and hold them with hands. Stir slowly. It calms stomach cramps, reduces gas and bloating and provides instant relief from pain.

Marjariyasana-Bitilasana or Cat-Cow Pose: Come on all four hands and legs and move the back up and down. Be in tune with the breath. It makes the spine flexible, reduces back pain and increases endorphins throughout the body. Mood swings are also controlled during periods.

Supta Matsyendrasana:- To practice this, lie down on your back, bend one knee to the other side and press with the opposite hand. It relieves stomach cramps, reduces swelling and provides relief from pain. This should be done for 30-60 seconds on both sides.

It is possible to control period problems by including yoga in daily routine. However, take special care that there is no pressure on the body or stomach and if there is excessive pain or swelling, definitely consult a doctor.
