Prayer is necessary to increase the benefits of yoga practice, AYUSH Ministry told the right way

New Delhi, June 14 (IANS). Now only one week is left for the celebration of International Yoga Day 2026 (21st June). In such a situation, the Ministry of AYUSH is continuously issuing messages to make people aware about yoga and to give information about the correct methods of practicing yoga. The Ministry has said that every journey of Yoga should begin with peace and positivity. For this, it is considered very important to start yoga practice with prayer.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Yoga is not just physical exercise, but it is a complete process of establishing balance between body, mind and soul. The full benefits of yoga can be achieved only when the practice is started with the right mental state. The ministry says prayer helps calm the mind, focus thoughts and prepare the body for yoga practice.

The ministry said in its message that before starting the yoga session, one should stabilize the mind for a few moments and adopt an attitude of gratitude. This focuses the person’s attention on the present moment and makes yoga practice more effective. Starting with a prayer infuses the mind with positive energy, which helps maintain concentration and coordination throughout the practice.

Before practicing yoga, sit in a quiet and comfortable place, where the mind can concentrate completely instead of wandering. Begin your prayer by expressing gratitude. Be thankful to God and nature for life, family, good health and the opportunities you get in life. This positive thinking gives peace and stability to the mind.

This year the theme of International Yoga Day has been kept as ‘Yoga for healthy age’. Its aim is to make people understand that regular yoga practice not only improves physical health but also maintains mental and emotional balance. Yoga is considered an effective medium to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle as we age.

The Ministry of AYUSH has appealed to people to make yoga a part of their daily routine and start it with prayer or supplication. The Ministry believes that with this small beginning, the benefits of practicing yoga can increase manifold and a person can achieve inner peace, mental clarity and better health.
