A statue of Maharishi Sushruta has been installed at the ‘Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’, Scotland, one of the oldest and most respected surgical institutions in the world. Giving this information, the Ministry of AYUSH has described it as a ‘proud moment’ for India.
“More than 2,500 years ago, Maharishi Sushruta documented advanced methods of surgery, including reconstructive techniques. These techniques laid the foundation for today’s plastic surgery. His work in ‘Sushruta Samhita’ is considered one of the most remarkable achievements in the history of medicine. This honor is not only a tribute to an extraordinary physician, but also a reminder of the rich scientific and medical heritage of ancient India,” the Ministry of AYUSH said via XPost. Is.”
The Ministry of AYUSH further said, “As the world recognizes these contributions, it becomes even more important to understand, preserve and celebrate the heritage of our civilization. The ministry wrote in another post, “Global recognition for Indian heritage! The bronze statue of Maharishi Sushruta, considered the father of surgery, has been unveiled at the ‘Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh’ in Scotland. This statue, built in Swamimalai, Tamil Nadu, pays tribute to the visionary who made such important contributions to surgery and medical science that are inspiring the world even after 2,500 years. From traditional knowledge to global recognition, Maharishi Sushruta’s legacy is a testament to India’s contribution to the field of healthcare and medicine.”
It is noteworthy that Maharishi Sushruta, one of the great sages of India, is considered the world’s first surgeon. He did plastic surgery 2500 years ago. Maharishi Sushruta had more than 300 different types. Before performing the surgery, he had also made about 124 different surgical instruments.
