Jaipur, April 7 (IANS). The Rajasthan government has taken serious note of the death of children due to an unknown disease in Salumber district. After this, a comprehensive disease control and surveillance campaign has been started in all the seven districts of Udaipur division.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, expert teams have been formed to investigate the causes of the disease, while prevention and monitoring measures are being taken on a large scale. Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar is also continuously monitoring the situation.
The team of RNT Medical College and the state level delegation visited the affected areas, assessed the situation and gave guidelines regarding the treatment and testing process.
Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) Gayatri Rathore said that 3,690 teams conducted door-to-door surveys and covered more than 52,000 houses. During this period, 275 symptomatic people were identified, out of which 25 were sent to higher medical centers for better treatment.
Awareness programs were also conducted at more than 13,000 locations as part of information, education and communication campaigns.
Public Health Director Dr. Ravi Prakash Sharma confirmed the death of a four-year-old child in Semari village of Salumber district. He said that on Tuesday, 651 patients were treated on the spot in the entire division.
Under prevention, anti-larva activities were carried out at 2,557 places to prevent diseases spread by mosquitoes. Apart from this, 1,796 blood slides were prepared and 94 samples were collected for testing.
The Health Department has intensified surveillance and appealed to the people to immediately inform the nearest health center if any symptoms appear and strictly follow the guidelines issued.
According to officials, the situation is being continuously monitored and prompt action is being ensured as per the need.
