Jaipur, 4 December (IANS). Special Operations Group (SOG) has busted a major medical fraud, revealing a dangerous attempt to illegally infiltrate the healthcare system in Rajasthan.
Additional Director General of Police (SOG) Vishal Bansal confirmed the arrest of three people who, despite failing the mandatory Foreign Medical Graduate Exam (FMGE), managed to get internships in government medical colleges by using fake documents.
According to ADJ Bansal, the racket came to light when SOG received intelligence that one of the accused, Dr. Piyush Kumar Trivedi, had allegedly obtained a fake FMGE qualification certificate with the help of a criminal network.
Later, through this fake certificate, he obtained approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and later secured a place for internship at the Government Medical College, Karauli.
After the fraud was confirmed, a case was registered and investigation started. Investigation revealed that Piyush studied MBBS from Georgia, but failed in the FMGE exam thrice. It is necessary for a foreign medical graduate to pass this examination to practice in India.
After repeated failures, he allegedly contacted his acquaintance Dr. Devendra Singh Gurjar, who along with Dr. Shubham Gurjar and other associates helped him get fake FMGE clearance and NMC registration in exchange for Rs 16 lakh.
