Mumbai, July 19 (IANS). ‘Walkathon 2026’ was organized by the Income Tax Department, Mumbai on Sunday on the 167th Income Tax Day in Maharashtra. The objective of this program was to give the message of health, fitness and awareness towards Income Tax Department to the people. Many celebrities including actors Randeep Hooda, Vijay Verma, Akash Shinde and Godfrey Perera attended the event as chief guests.
On this occasion, actor Randeep Hooda while talking to the media said that he has practiced many types of exercises, gyms and sports in his life, but with time he realized that walking is the easiest and most effective exercise.
Randeep Hooda said that even if a person is not able to do other exercise, walking for half an hour to 45 minutes daily can be very beneficial for health. He told that regular walking helps in reducing excess body fat and is also considered good for heart health.
Giving an easy formula for fitness, he said that it is important to control the heart rate during a normal walk. He appealed to people to include walking in their daily routine, as it can help in staying fit in the long run.
Talking about the importance of Income Tax Day, Randeep Hooda said that the 167th Income Tax Day is celebrated every year on 24th July. He told that this day is linked to the introduction of income tax system in India in 1860. He said that through such events, efforts are being made to increase awareness among people along with fitness.
Randeep Hooda expressed happiness over the National Award received for his film ‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar’ and said that he is extremely grateful for it. He told that the opportunity to convey the life and thoughts of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar to the new generation was very special for him.
He said that he had worked hard for this project and along with acting, he also took up the responsibility of writing, directing and producing it. Randeep Hooda said that it is a matter of pride for him to convey the story of a historical personality to the people.
