Caracas, July 1 (IANS). Relief work continues in Venezuela, which has suffered two massive earthquakes. The Army Field Hospital of India is continuously providing timely medical care to the patients and providing treatment to the needy. The hospital team is ready to serve the people in every situation. The people of Venezuela are also keenly feeling this sense of readiness and service.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs shared some video clips, which tell the story of the dedication of the Indian team as a balm for the pain. An elderly woman also reached the field hospital established under ‘Operation Amistad’ in difficult times, became emotional while narrating her experience and expressed her gratitude towards India.
With tears in her eyes and words of blessing, she said, “My Indian friends, you standing with us in this difficult time is memorable and for this we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your services are wonderful and truly praiseworthy. The love and respect with which you are taking care of us is truly the best. My prayers are with you, may God always be with you.”
At the same time, some were seen lining up in the field hospital, waiting for their turn. In the video, the medical team can be seen talking to the victims and consoling them.
On June 24, Venezuela was hit by two powerful earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5. More than 1,400 people lost their lives in these earthquakes and caused massive destruction in many parts of the country. After this India launched ‘Operation Amistad’ to help in relief and rescue.
The relief material sent by India reached Venezuela on Sunday. On this occasion, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said that India’s field hospital units, relief materials, medicines and medical equipment will further strengthen the ongoing relief operations there.

The Indian Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire also informed about the mission on ‘X’. The embassy said that two C-17 aircraft of the Indian Air Force reached Venezuela via Abidjan. Relief material, field hospital team of the Indian Army and two ‘Bhishma Cubes’ were sent in these aircraft.
The embassy said that the team has a total of 41 members, including nine doctors. The team is fully prepared to provide emergency treatment, treatment of serious injuries, life-saving surgeries and other essential health services.
