New Delhi, April 14 (IANS). Today Satua Sankranti or Satuan festival is being celebrated across the country. On this day, there is a tradition of donating pitcher, fan, sattu and cold fruits. It is believed that by making this donation one gets many virtues.
There is a religious belief that by this donation the Gods and Goddesses are pleased and the souls of the ancestors are satisfied. Satua Sankranti is considered to mark the beginning of the summer season. According to the legend, Lord Vishnu was the first to eat Sattu after defeating King Bali. For this reason, consuming and donating Sattu on this day is considered very auspicious and fruitful.
According to religious scholars, the festival of Satua Sankranti holds great importance in Sanatan Dharma. This day is associated with the change in the zodiac sign of Lord Surya. Today, Sun God is coming out of Pisces and entering Aries. On this occasion, devotees take bath in the Ganga or other holy rivers and worship the Sun God.
After the puja, devotees donate Sattu, a pitcher filled with water, jaggery, seasonal fruits like wood apple, watermelon, melon and raw mango, cucumber, cucumber etc. By donating a filled pitcher, the ancestors are satisfied, while by donating Sattu, the Gods are pleased and sins are destroyed. Not only this, this day is also associated with the planetary defect Shanti, those whose Moon is weak in their horoscope, should donate a pitcher full of water on this day, then the Moon becomes strong.
This day is also known as Aries Sankranti. Kharmas ends with the change of Sun’s zodiac sign. After Kharmas is over, auspicious functions like marriage, Upanayana Sanskar and other auspicious rituals begin.
The more Sattu is considered sacred in religion, the more it is beneficial for health. Consuming Sattu during summer season maintains energy in the body. Drinking Sattu sherbet removes body heat and provides coolness. It is rich in fiber, which reduces stomach heat and strengthens the digestive system.
According to Ayurveda experts, to avoid heatstroke during summer, if you drink Sattu or Sattu sherbet before leaving the house, the risk of heatstroke is greatly reduced. Sattu is rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals, which helps in keeping the body cool and healthy in summers.
