SP President himself reached the hospital to meet the BJP MLA who got burnt while burning the effigy of Akhilesh Yadav.

Lucknow, April 28 (IANS). Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav reached Medanta Hospital on Tuesday and met BJP MLA Anupama Jaiswal. Anupama Jaiswal suffered burn injuries while burning the effigy of Akhilesh Yadav during a protest against the alleged non-passage of the Women’s Reservation (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha and is currently undergoing treatment.

Anupama Jaiswal, representing Bahraich assembly constituency, was injured during a demonstration organized by the BJP against the ‘India’ alliance’s opposition to the Women’s Reservation Bill. Akhilesh Yadav suffered burn injuries on his face when his effigy suddenly caught fire during the protest.

Sharing information about his visit on social media platform X, Akhilesh Yadav said, “We do not want to create fire among the people of the society. We want there to be harmony in the society. Our healthy tradition of positive politics teaches us this. This is why we went to meet BJP MLA Anupama Jaiswal ji and returned wishing her speedy recovery.

He said, “Politics has its own place and human relationships have their own importance. Harmony should be maintained.

The incident took place when effigies of Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi were being burnt as part of a protest led by MLA Jaiswal.

The situation became dangerous when the MLA lit a matchstick, due to which the effigy suddenly caught fire and the fire spread rapidly.

BJP District Vice President Rahul Rai said that excessive amount of petrol was probably filled in the effigy, due to which a ball of fire suddenly formed and it hit the MLA’s face.

As a result, Jaiswal’s forehead and hair caught fire. Party workers present at the spot immediately extinguished the fire and he was taken to the hospital in a police vehicle.

Earlier, reacting to the incident, Akhilesh Yadav had shared a video on social media platform Proper arrangements should be made for the treatment of the woman who set the fire.”
