Dushanbe, June 13 (IANS). Preparations are going on in full swing at the international level for Yoga Day. Under this, a yoga session was organized in Tajikistan before the International Yoga Day 2026 under the auspices of the Government of India. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh also participated in it.
He gave this information by sharing pictures of this event on social media platform X. He said that the program was organized in collaboration with Dushanbe-based Indian and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
He further wrote, “On this occasion, the participants practiced various asanas and pranayam of yoga. Along with the members of the Indian community, the ‘Friends of India’ group and yoga lovers from Tajikistan also enthusiastically participated in the program.”
During this, the Minister highlighted the importance of Yoga and said that it is not just physical exercise, but it is an effective medium to promote overall health, mental balance and harmony with nature. This ancient tradition of yoga continues to inspire millions of people around the world.
The program also conveyed the message that Yoga is an important part of India’s cultural heritage, which promotes peace, health and unity globally.
This time the main theme of the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 (IDY 2026) has been kept as “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”. This theme focuses on the fact that through yoga, the body can be kept active, healthy, and mentally balanced even in old age.
The official announcement of the theme was made by the Union Ministry of AYUSH. This announcement was made by Minister of State for AYUSH Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav in Khajuraho.
This year’s main event at the national level is being organized in Kolkata. A large-scale mass yoga session is planned here, in which around 40,000 people are likely to practice yoga together. The event also aims to set a new Guinness World Record.
