Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched a major attack on Al-Dafra airbase in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to Iran, it has fired 10 missiles and several drones targeting the American military contingent. At the same time, the Defense Ministry of UAE has made it clear that their air defense system has destroyed these missiles and drones in the air itself. Iran’s Navy has claimed responsibility for this attack and named it Operation True Promise 4. Iran claims that it has used 10 dangerous missiles like Fattah hypersonic and Qadr. Their main target was the US Army base, Patriot radar and control tower. Iran has claimed huge losses but America and UAE have clearly denied any loss of life or property.
UAE Presidential Advisor Dr. Anwar Gargash has said that the country is fully capable of protecting itself and is acting wisely. The explosions heard by the general public were actually the sounds of the UAE military destroying the missiles in the air. America has also announced a reward of 10 million dollars for information about top leaders of Iran.
Safety of migrants: Flights and CBSE exams canceled
This attack has had a direct impact on Indians and other expatriates living in UAE. The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has appealed to people to stay indoors and away from fallen debris. In view of the current situation, the following major changes have been made for the common people:
Air India flights cancelled: Due to security reasons, Air India and Air India Express have canceled all their flights to UAE for March 15.
CBSE exam ban: The CBSE 12th board exam scheduled for March 15 has been canceled for Indian students living in the Middle East.
Airspace affected: Flight routes in Gulf countries have been changed and some airspace has been temporarily closed.
Warning to ports: Iran has warned people to move away from three major ports of UAE, describing them as potential military targets.
