Coimbatore, July 21 (IANS). Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan will visit Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. During this, he will inaugurate the Nursing College of GKNM Hospital at Papanaikanpalayam in Coimbatore city. There is high alert regarding his visit to Coimbatore and strict security arrangements have been made.
The Vice President will reach Coimbatore by a special flight from New Delhi and then from there he will go to the venue. The program will start at 5 pm. Where he will formally inaugurate the Nursing College and address the people.
Senior medical professionals, academicians, public representatives and invited guests are expected to attend the event. After the ceremony, the Vice President will travel by road to Coimbatore International Airport and return to New Delhi late in the evening.
Coimbatore City Police has made tight security arrangements across the city regarding his visit. Police Commissioner Kannan is monitoring the security arrangements. A large number of police personnel will be deployed on the Vice President’s travel route, event venue and other important places.
Authorities have declared several areas of the city as ‘red zones’ and have temporarily banned the use of drones and other unpiloted aerial vehicles (UAVs). These restrictions have come into effect from 11 am on Tuesday and will remain in force till 11 am on Thursday.
The areas declared red zone include Uppilipalayam, Race Course, Avinashi Road, Lakshmi Mills Junction, GKNM Hospital Complex, HOBS, Peelamedu, Chitra, Nehru Nagar, Kalapatti, Chinniampalayam and surrounding areas.
The police have warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who violates the restrictions related to drones.
Motorists have been advised to cooperate with the traffic police and follow the diversions and advisories issued during the tour.
