Agartala, February 5 (IANS). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday said the state government is committed to providing all possible help to the needy people and ensuring good healthcare facilities in the state, with telemedicine playing an important role in providing advanced medical services.
Addressing the needy during the 62nd episode of Chief Minister Samipeshu (CM’s General Darbar), Saha said patients from economically weaker section should avoid getting treatment outside the state unless specialized treatment is required.
“Now advanced medical services can be provided in many cases in Tripura. With the help of telemedicine, people can get specialized medical advice without traveling outside the state,” the Chief Minister said.
At the event organized at his official residence, Saha, himself a dental surgeon, heard the medical and other complaints of people from different parts of the state and directed the officials to take immediate steps to resolve them.
During the interaction, the Chief Minister handed over a check of Rs 4 lakh as financial assistance to Anukul Das of Anandnagar, whose son died in a tragic accident recently.
Responding to requests for medical assistance, Saha, who also holds the health and family welfare portfolio, directed the health department to provide immediate treatment and essential medicines to Bijankanya Malsom of West Taichlong village in Amarpur subdivision, who had sought help for the treatment of her father.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to make arrangements for advance treatment for Swapan Pal of Ganki in Khowai district and Biswajit Dhar of Dharmanagar, both of whom are suffering from complex aplastic anemia.
Many others, including residents of Agartala, Dharmanagar and Singerbil, sought assistance for treatment related to heart disease and other serious ailments, to which the Chief Minister assured all possible help.
Many senior officials including Health and Family Welfare Secretary Kiran Gitte, Social Welfare Secretary Tapas Roy, Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Samit Roy Chowdhury and senior medical officers were present during the programme.
