New Delhi, 28 September (IANS). High blood pressure i.e. high blood pressure is often called ‘silent killer’, because its symptoms gradually harm the body from inside. Surprisingly, the patient does not feel any problem in the beginning and it becomes dangerous over time. From the perspective of Ayurveda and science, there is an organ in the body, which gives the initial indication of this danger and that is ‘eyes’.
Our eyes are not only a medium to see, but they are also a mirror of many changes occurring within the body. In Ayurveda, the eyes are considered to be the mirror of the body and modern science also confirms it.
Actually, the texture of the eyes is such that the blood vessels present here appear directly. It is not possible to see these blood vessels elsewhere in the body without surgery. When the blood pressure in the body increases, the first effect falls on these delicate and thin blood vessels. This change is so fine that in the initial phase it can only be detected by eye tests.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, if high blood pressure continues for a long time, it can cause severe damage to the retina of the eyes. This condition is called ‘hypertensive retinopathy’ in medical language. Initially, the blood vessels of the eyes begin to become thick and harden. This change can gradually affect the vision. If not treated in time, the light starts to blur and in some cases suddenly appear can also stop.
Many times the blood pressure increases so much that there is so much pressure on the veins of the eyes that there is a leakage of blood and fluid. This causes swelling inside the eyes. Sometimes the main artery or veins of the retina are completely blocked, which can stop seeing the patient suddenly. This condition is a medical emergency and is necessary immediately.
Ayurveda says that the eyes show the balance of the three defects. When there is an imbalance in them, the eyes give the first signal. High blood pressure is considered associated with imbalance of vata dosha, in which blood flow can be abnormally sharp or obstructed. In such a situation, all these signs reflect the depth of the disease.
For this reason, it is important that we do not take regular examination of the eyes lightly. Especially those who have already complained of blood pressure, they must check the retina at least once a year.
