New Delhi, February 26 (IANS). Due to today’s lifestyle, stomach related diseases have started troubling people of all ages. Complaints of gas, flatulence and mild stomach pain are seen immediately after eating anything.

To relax the digestive fire of the stomach, people consume cooling fruits, but sometimes even after eating fruits, the burning sensation and acidity of the stomach starts increasing, but why so?

It is important to consume the right fruits to cool the stomach and protect it from irritation. Very few people know that fruits also cause acidity. Some fruits contain high amounts of citric acid, consumption of which causes gas and heartburn. Today we have brought information about such fruits, which should be consumed in small quantities. The first one is orange. Oranges contain high amounts of citric acid, which can cause acid reflux and heartburn if consumed in excess. Therefore, if you are suffering from stomach related problems then reduce the consumption of oranges.

The second one is lemon. Lemons are high in citric acid, which causes heartburn and increases gastric acid production, especially on an empty stomach. Therefore, consume lemon in limited quantities. The third one is pineapple. The properties of pineapple are acidic and pungent and its consumption increases bile. In such a situation, if you are suffering from intestinal problems then avoid consuming pineapple because the enzymes and acids present in pineapple can irritate the sensitive intestinal lining.

Fourth is raw mango. Raw mango is acidic and heavy in nature. The stomach has to work harder to digest it. Its consumption increases phlegm and vata. Indigestion problem may also arise. The fifth is sour grapes. The quality of sour grapes is acidic and increases bile, in such a situation there may be problem of flatulence and gas formation, hence if digestion is slow then consume grapes or sour fruits in limited quantity.

Apart from this, if guava is consumed along with the seeds, it also hinders digestion. Consuming guava including seeds can cause flatulence. Apart from this, consumption of blackberries and berries should also be avoided. According to Ayurveda, sour and pungent fruits increase pitta and weaken agni.
