Mumbai, November 2 (IANS). In today’s busy life, controlling anger has become a big challenge for everyone. Office problems and home responsibilities, all these can create stress and irritability in us. Yoga is not just a way to keep the body fit, but it also helps in calming our mind and freeing us from negative emotions.

When anger increases, not only our relationships are affected, but our body is also affected. In such a situation, yoga emerges as a natural and effective solution.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, pranayam and asanas have special importance in yoga. Pranayam i.e. breath control is a wonderful way to calm our mind and emotions.

Bhastrika Pranayam: Bhastrika Pranayam is considered very helpful in reducing anger. When we inhale and exhale rapidly, the amount of oxygen in our lungs increases and the energy balance inside the body is correct. Due to this one feels peace in the mind. Anger often occurs when the energy in our body and mind becomes unbalanced. Bhastrika Pranayama removes this imbalance.

Sheetali Pranayam: Sheetali Pranayam is effective in reducing anger. When we take deep breaths, both body temperature and mental excitement are controlled. When angry, the body and mind become filled with heat and excitement, which leads to faster reactions and less control. By doing Shitali Pranayam, the body feels cool from inside and the mind becomes calm, due to which you can control your emotions better. This is a process of calming anger by cooling the mind.

Anulom-Vilom Pranayam: Anulom-Vilom Pranayam is very beneficial for mental balance. This pranayama helps in balancing both the parts of the brain. When the mind is in perfect balance, our thinking remains more clear and calm. Anger often comes only then. When certain parts of the brain become more active and stimulated. Regular practice of Anulom-Vilom Pranayam removes this imbalance and we are able to control our emotions in a more restrained manner.

Balasana: Balasana is also helpful in reducing anger. When we bend in Balasana and relax the body, stiffness in the muscles reduces and the mind becomes calm. Anger often arises from our physical and mental stiffness and Balasana works to remove it. This asana helps in relaxing our mind and removing negative emotions.

Shavasana: This is a very effective asana. When we completely relax the body and breathe carefully, the negative energy slowly flows out. Practicing Shavasana makes one feel mentally lighter and calms intense emotions like anger.
