New Delhi, December 15 (IANS). The risk of cold, cough and infection increases in the winter season. In such a situation, Ayurveda’s chemical Chyawanprash is considered to be the most reliable solution to strengthen the body’s immunity.
It not only boosts immunity but also nourishes the lungs, heart, skin and brain. This thousands of years old medicine is linked to the cure of Maharishi Chyawan’s disease. According to Ayurvedic texts, the old and weak Maharishi Chyavan was given a special chemical by the Ashwini Kumars, due to which his body became young and strong again and free from diseases. This chemical was named Chyawanprash.
Detailed information about Chyawanprash is available in Ayurveda. It is an avaleh (jam like), which mainly contains amla. Apart from this, more than 30 herbs like Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Giloy, Punarnava, Myrobalan, Dashmool and Brahmi are added. Ghee, sesame oil, spices like cardamom, cinnamon and pippali and finally honey and sugar are added. Honey is always mixed in cold mixture, because its properties get destroyed when mixed with hot mixture.
Ayurvedacharya explains that Chyawanprash is especially necessary in winter, because in this season Kapha dosha increases, digestion becomes weak and infections spread easily. Chyawanprash balances the internal fire of the body, strengthens the lungs, prevents cold and cough and removes fatigue and dryness. It keeps the body warm and energetic from inside.
Consuming Chyawanprash provides many benefits. Amla, Giloy and Ashwagandha provide natural protection from infections and increase immunity. Provides relief from asthma, allergies and frequent colds and strengthens the respiratory system. Helps in increasing memory power and concentration. Antioxidants keep the blood pure. The heart gets protection. It is also beneficial for skin and hair and brings glow to the face.
Ayurvedacharya explains what is the correct way of consumption? Take Chyawanprash in the morning on an empty stomach with some lukewarm milk. Give half-one teaspoon to children. Can be taken even at night.
Experts also advise taking some precautions. Do not take it with cold water, tea or juice. Diabetic patients should choose sugar-free Chyawanprash. Avoid excessive consumption.
