World Red Cross Day was started in 1948 to commemorate the founder of Red Cross, Henry Dunnett, on his birthday, 8th May, every year. He took the initiative to help the injured and suffering people during war and disaster. The main objective of celebrating World Red Cross Day is to make people aware of human service, disaster relief and health assistance. This day reminds us that true humanity lies in helping the needy beyond caste, religion, language and boundaries.
