New Delhi, June 13 (IANS). World Yoga Day 2026 is now just 8 days away. The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has kept the main theme of this year’s Yoga Day as ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’. The ministry says that a healthy mind and body form the basis for living a better life at any age. In this sequence, the Ministry has given information about ‘Knee Movement’ yoga exercise, which is very useful in strengthening the knees and hips.
With increasing age, knee pain, stiffness in hips and weakness of lower body have become common problems. Prolonged sitting lifestyle has further increased these problems. According to the Ministry of AYUSH, ‘Knee Movement’ (Samasthiti) is an easy yoga exercise that strengthens the knees and hip joints. This improves balance and makes everyday activities like walking, sitting, standing and climbing stairs easier.
Practicing knee movements increases the flexibility of the joints, activates the muscles and maintains natural lubrication in the joints. Regular exercise reduces knee pain, relieves stiffness and reduces the risk of injury. This exercise is especially beneficial for those who do less physical activity or work sitting for long periods of time.
Experts say pain and instability in the knees are often signs of underuse or weakness of the joints. Simple exercises like ‘knee movements’ are a natural solution to these problems. This exercise can be easily done at home without any equipment. When done properly, the movement of joints gradually increases and the body becomes stronger.
Start this exercise slowly. If someone has severe pain then definitely consult yoga experts. This exercise, which can be easily done at home without any equipment, improves body posture and increases balance.
