New Delhi, 7 October (IANS). Maida, which has become the main component of almost every fast food and bakery products today, is gradually proving a slow poison for our health. Pizza, burgers, bread, biscuits, samosa or kachori may taste all of them, but the flour used in making it is very harmful to our body.
In Ayurveda, it is considered to be an element weakening Agni Mandya i.e. digestive power, while modern medical science calls it a silent killer.
Bran (bran) and germ (sprout) are made from the grains of maida wheat, which only saves starch. In this process, vitamins, minerals and fiber are completely destroyed. Not only this, to enhance its color and texture, it contains bleaching agents such as benzoyal peroxide and chlorine gas, which are extremely dangerous chemical substances for health.
Maida has many harmful effects on the body in many ways. First of all it falls heavily on the digestive system. Going into the intestines, it makes a glue -like layer, causing problems like constipation, gas and acidity. Its glycemic index is very high, which immediately increases blood sugar and proves harmful for patients with diabetes.
Eating flour continuously increases body fat, especially around the stomach and waist, which increases obesity and metabolic disorders. In addition, it increases the risk of heart diseases by increasing poor cholesterol and triglycerides.
Flour has neither nutrient nor fiber. It only gives calories, which gradually weakens the body’s immunity.
According to Ayurveda, maida is the guru and acidic, which slows down the digestive fire and produces a common element in the body. This increases phlegm defects, increasing diseases such as obesity, diabetes and joint pain.
Modern research also confirms this approach. A study conducted in 2010 found that those who ate refined flour foods per day, the risk of heart disease was 30% higher. For this reason, the World Health Organization and the Indian Council of Medical Research Research have advised to avoid excessive intake of refined carbohydrates.
It is more beneficial to adopt alternatives like whole wheat flour, multigrain flour, barley, oats, gram flour, and maize flour instead of maida, as they are rich in fiber, protein and minerals.
