New Delhi, October 29 (IANS). After the age of 40, many important changes start taking place in our body, such as muscle strength decreases, bones become weak, joints become stiff and metabolism slows down. These changes are natural, but it is possible to slow them down.

According to health experts, some effective strength training exercises are being given, on which people above 40 years of age should pay special attention.

Squats: In squats, when you bend your knees and hips and sit up, you activate the muscles of the thighs and lower back. This strengthens the lower part, which not only helps in building muscles but also helps in maintaining balance while walking.

Plank: It helps strengthen the abdominals, back and shoulders as well as improve balance and posture. There is no need of any equipment for this, you can do it at home, gym or park. It strengthens the abdominal muscles and lower back. Along with this, it helps in maintaining better posture by strengthening the muscles of your back, chest, shoulders and neck.

Push-ups: This is an effective exercise for the upper body and core, strengthening the chest, shoulders, triceps and abdominal muscles. To do this, come into plank position, keep the hands slightly wider than the shoulders and keep the body straight from head to heels. While inhaling, bend the elbows and lower the body and while exhaling, push with the hands and come back to the starting position. Push-ups strengthen muscles. Is. This improves the balance of the body. This speeds up metabolism and helps in burning calories.

Lunges: This is done to strengthen the lower body muscles such as quadriceps, hamstrings and glutes. To do it, you step one leg forward, bend the knees, and lower the body down. It strengthens and shapes the muscles of the thighs and hips. Also strengthens the glutes and quadriceps as well as the calf and core muscles. If done regularly, fat in thighs and hips is reduced.
