The Bombay High Court complex in Fort area of South Mumbai was evacuated after receiving a bomb threat on Friday afternoon. The Delhi High Court also received a similar threat. The proceedings of the Bombay High Court were suddenly stopped when all the judges including Chief Justice Shri Chandrashekhar got up from their chair and went out.
The Bombay Bar Association (BBA) and Advocates Association of Western India (AAWI) requested their member lawyers to vacate the campus due to security reasons. After this, the bomb detection unit and dog squad were posted in the court premises.
A Mumbai Police official said the withdrawal was done on the basis of a threatened mail. By the file of this report, it was not clear whether the Bombay High Court got a separate mail or its name was included in the mail sent to the Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court also received a bomb threats on the official email ID of the Registrar General and other officers on Friday.
