The effect of increasing tension in West Asia is now directly visible on air travel. Air Arabia has canceled all its flights from Coimbatore to Sharjah till March 9, 2026 due to security reasons. Airlines and airport authorities have described this as a ‘precautionary measure’ as air routes in Iran and surrounding areas are not safe. Hundreds of passengers, especially those working in Gulf countries, have been affected by this decision.

How long will the flights remain closed and what is the reason?

Usually this flight operates 5 days a week (Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday), but in the current situation it has been stopped. Coimbatore International Airport Director Mohammed Arif has confirmed the cancellation of flights.
According to reports, due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, many countries have closed their airspace. The airline has taken this decision due to lack of space for commercial flights. However, some other airlines like SpiceJet and Air India are running a limited number of special flights from Dubai and Fujairah to evacuate the stranded people.
