New Delhi. After Lok Sabha, Vande Mataram is being discussed in Rajya Sabha today. Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the importance of Vande Mataram. Along with this, he also fiercely targeted Congress. He said that when 50 years of Vande Mataram were completed, India was not independent. When the golden jubilee of Vande Mataram took place in 1937, Jawaharlal Nehru divided Vande Mataram into two parts and limited it to two parts. Shah said, many people like me believe that whether the Congress Party likes it or not, if Vande Mataram had not been appeased, the country would not have been divided.

Amit Shah said that some people want to reduce the importance of Vande Mataram by linking it with Bengal elections. Vande Mataram is an immortal composition that instills a sense of duty and dedication towards Mother India. When Vande Mataram was limited on completion of 50 years, appeasement started from there and that appeasement led to the partition of the country. When Vande Mataram completed 100 years, there was no scope for glorifying the national anthem because Indira Gandhi had put those who chanted Vande Mataram in jail. Emergency was imposed, the entire country was put under lockdown. When the discussion on 150 years of Vande Mataram took place in the Lok Sabha yesterday, both the members of the Gandhi family were absent from the House. From Jawaharlal Nehru to the present leadership of Congress, even today Vande Mataram is being opposed.

Union Home Minister said, no one is afraid to discuss issues. We do not boycott Parliament, we are ready to discuss any issue, but the mentality of postponing the discussion of Vande Mataram song is not new. Some members had raised the question in the Lok Sabha as to what is the need for discussion on Vande Mataram today. The need for discussion on Vande Mataram, the need for dedication towards Vande Mataram, was there when Vande Mataram was made, it was there at the time of independence, it is there even today and when a great India is created then also it will be necessary to discuss it. It is true that the author of Vande Mataram, Bankim Babu, was from Bengal, Anand Math originated in Bengal, but Vande Mataram was not limited to Bengal or the country only. When a soldier on the country’s border, or a policeman protecting the country from within, sacrifices his life for the country, he only raises the slogan of Vande Mataram.
