Making another significant breakthrough in the Delhi car bomb blast case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday said it has arrested another key associate of the terrorist involved in the blast, who had allegedly provided technical support to carry out the terrorist attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets before the terrorist attack.
Kashmiri resident Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish was arrested from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir by an NIA team present in the valley in the case.
The NIA said in a statement that its investigation revealed that “Jaseer had allegedly provided technical support to carry out terrorist attacks by modifying drones and attempting to build rockets before the deadly car bomb blast, which killed 15 people and injured more than 30.”
According to the NIA, Jasir, a resident of Qazigund in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, was an active co-conspirator behind the attack and had planned the terror massacre along with terrorist Umar Un Nabi, which was carried out near the iconic Red Fort on November 10 at around 7 pm.
The NIA further said that it is continuing the investigation from various angles to unearth the conspiracy behind the bomb blast.
Officials said that several teams of the counter-terrorism agency are engaged in tracing various clues and conducting search operations in different states to identify each person involved in the terrorist attack.
This is the second consecutive arrest in this case, before which on Sunday the agency had earlier arrested Kashmiri resident Aamir Rashid Ali, who had conspired with the suicide bomber to carry out the terrorist attack.
Aamir is the same person in whose name the Hyundai 120 car involved in the attack was registered. He was arrested from Delhi by the NIA, which had launched a massive search operation after taking over the case from Delhi Police a day after the blasts.
NIA had said that Aamir, a resident of Sambura in Pampore district of Jammu and Kashmir, had conspired with suicide bomber Omar Un Nabi to carry out a terrorist attack.
According to the counter-terrorism agency, Aamir had come to Delhi to help procure the car, which was eventually used as a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) to carry out the blast.
The agency then said that it has identified the deceased driver of the vehicle carrying the IED through forensic examination as Omar Un Nabi, a resident of Pulwama district and an assistant professor in the department of General Medicine at Faridabad-based Al Falah University.
The anti-terrorism agency has also seized another vehicle of the prophet. This vehicle is being examined for evidence in this case. The NIA has so far examined 73 witnesses in this case, including those injured in the blast in the national capital on November 10.
Working in close coordination with Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police and various partner agencies, the NIA said it is continuing its investigation in various states.
The agency further said that it is following various clues to unearth the larger conspiracy behind the bomb blasts and identify other people involved in the case.
