New Delhi. Sporadic incidents of stubble burning are taking place in Punjab. Even the Diwali crackers have not been lit yet. That means both these reasons for large scale smoke are missing. Despite this, there is a shadow of air pollution in Delhi. The average air quality index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded at 274 on Sunday morning. This level of AQI falls in the poor category. Whereas in Anand Vihar, AQI reached 426. Whereas, AQI was recorded at 349 in Vivek Vihar, 322 in RK Puram, 314 in Jahangirpuri and AQI 303 in Bawana. All these levels indicate very bad climate.

Data from 38 monitoring stations of Delhi show that there is a lot of pollution in the country’s capital. Due to this, a fog like situation was created in Delhi. It is believed that air pollution has increased in Delhi due to vehicles. Apart from this, construction work and garbage burning incidents can also be a major reason for air pollution in Delhi. There are many factories near Delhi. These can also increase air pollution in Delhi. According to the data till March 31, 2023, there were a total of 79.5 lakh vehicles in Delhi. Of these, 20.7 lakh were private cars. Whereas, in the year 2021-2022, the number of vehicles in Delhi was 1.2 crore.

Every year an increase in air pollution is seen in Delhi with the arrival of cold season.

This time, permission to burn green crackers in Diwali has been received from the Supreme Court. Although green firecrackers reduce air pollution, if the wind does not blow fast then air pollution in the capital can become more serious after Diwali. There was so much air pollution in Delhi last year that several levels of curbs had to be implemented one after the other. However, the BJP government of Delhi has decided that such an action plan will be implemented so that in the next five years the level of air pollution in Delhi can be reduced by 50 percent as compared to now. However, for this, vehicles coming from outside Delhi will also have to be controlled. Let us tell you that pollution also became a big issue in the last elections of Delhi Assembly. BJP had been continuously accusing the Aam Aadmi Party government of not controlling pollution.
