There was a thick blanket of smog in Delhi on Saturday morning and the air quality index reached near the severe category with 397.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), 21 out of the total monitoring stations in Delhi have recorded AQI more than 400, which falls in the severe category.
According to CPCB data, the highest AQI was recorded at 445 in Wazirpur, 444 in Vivek Vihar, 442 in Jahangirpuri, 439 in Anand Vihar and 437 in both Ashok Vihar and Rohini. According to the data, AQI was recorded at 432 in Narela, 431 in Patparganj, 430 in Mundka and 429 in Bawana, ITO and Nehru Nagar.
According to CPCB data, the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 423 in Chandni Chowk and Punjabi Bagh, while it was 424 in Siri Fort and Sonia Vihar.
CPCB said that Burari Crossing recorded AQI of 414, followed by 409 in Karni Singh Shooting Range, 408-408 in North Campus and RK Puram and 404 in Okhla Phase-2.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
According to the Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS), Delhi’s air quality is likely to remain in the ‘very poor’ category till Saturday. The forecast for the next six days also predicts that the air quality will remain in the very poor category.
