A big revelation has come to light in the fake passport case in Ghaziabad. Clerk Pushpendra Kumar, working in the passport office located at Bhikaji Cama Palace, Delhi, has been arrested on February 11, 2026. He is accused of issuing 22 fake passports. This entire racket was going on for several days, in which many more people were involved.
What was the work of clerk Pushpendra Kumar?
Pushpendra Kumar used to handle the police verification desk in the Regional Passport Office (RPO) of Delhi. His job was to forward passport files even on fake documents and wrong addresses. For this work he used to get ₹1,000 for every passport. Agent Vivek Gandhi had provided him a fake SIM and mobile, through which he used to communicate under the name ‘Shyam’ and hide his identity.
How many people have been arrested in this case so far?
A total of 6 accused have been arrested so far in this fake passport racket. These also include main agents Vivek Gandhi and Prakash Subba. Postman Arun Kumar of Modinagar/Bhojpur post office has also been caught, who had diverted the delivery of passports to wrong addresses. The police have applied in the court for police custody remand (PCR) of agent Vivek Gandhi and postman Arun Kumar, the hearing of which will be held on February 13, 2026. A police constable Deepak Kumar is still absconding, who is accused of clearing the verification without going to the spot.
How much bribe was taken for fake passport?
There was a big money game in this whole racket. Clerk Pushpendra Kumar used to get ₹1,000 for every passport. Postman Arun Kumar was paid ₹2,000 for wrong delivery of passport. Agents used to charge applicants ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh for getting a passport issued on a fake identity or address. Investigation has also revealed that digital verification reports were cleared by misuse of login IDs of sub-inspectors. A total of 11 policemen, including Bhojpur SHO and 8 sub-inspectors, have been “lined up” for this negligence.
