Mokama is notorious for being the home of influential and often controversial “bahubalis” or “bahubalis” in Bihar politics, the most prominent of whom are Anant Kumar Singh, his brother Dilip Singh and Suraj Bhan Singh. The electoral battle in the Mokama assembly constituency in Bihar’s Patna district centered around two strongmen – Anant Singh and Suraj Bhan Singh, who dominate the political narrative of the region.
Meanwhile, the NDA is heading towards setting a new milestone in the 2025 Bihar elections as it has crossed the 195 mark in the latest trends. According to the Election Commission, till now the BJP has won 30 seats and is leading on 61. JDU has won 19 seats, LJP (RV) 2, HAM 1 seat. RJD has also won 5 seats and is leading on 20 others. The NDA’s performance in Bihar can be attributed to the strong showing of major parties like BJP and JD(U), which also includes widespread support from Chirag Paswan’s LJP (RV) and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha. It is worth noting that Bihar witnessed a historic 67.13% turnout, the highest since 1951, with women voters voting ahead of men (71.6% vs 62.8%).
