Rural SP got the power to suspend

The government has not only divided the areas, but has also given concrete powers to the rural SPs to work. Now the rural SP will be able to take direct action against the policemen committing misconduct in their area. According to the new rules:

Rural SP can suspend officers up to the rank of Inspector and Sub-Inspector under his jurisdiction. They have to monitor crime register, daily reports and patrol charts for crime control. For taking action against any police line personnel, they will have to consult the District SP. It will be mandatory for them to participate in the weekly police parade and ‘Police Sabha’.

This decision will have a direct impact on the general public. Earlier, the District SP had the burden of the entire district, due to which there was delay in hearing in rural areas. Now, since the rural SP has separate responsibility, the police will quickly reach the villages on incidents like land disputes, theft and fighting. It is also a matter of relief for Biharis living in Gulf countries or outside that now a dedicated senior officer will be present for the security of their village house.
