Assam Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma said on Saturday that he would meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Sunday morning to finalize the funeral plan of singer Zubin Garg.

Jubin died on Friday in Singapore while swimming in the sea without a life -saving jacket.

Sharma reached Delhi from Guwahati on Saturday evening to take the body of the singer. Jubin’s body will be brought from Singapore to India around midnight. There were reports of Sharma getting the body of the singer in the national capital and then taking him to Guwahati.

However, the Chief Minister later told reporters that Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margerita will now take Jubin’s body to Guwahati from chartered aircraft.

Sharma said that the body of the singer is likely to be brought to the Indira Gandhi International Airport around midnight. He said that “it will take some time to take the body to the domestic terminal” and we hope that the aircraft will fly from Delhi around two o’clock in the night.

“I will go to the airport to get his body, pay tribute to him, and ensure that the formalities are completed as soon as possible,” Sarma said, ” He said that he would meet Shah to discuss Jubin’s funeral plan before leaving for Guwahati on Sunday afternoon.

Sharma said, “The state cabinet meeting will be held in Guwahati at 6 pm to finalize the funeral plan.”

In connection with the appeal of Zubin’s wife Garima Saikia Garg’s people not to be malicious towards the singer’s manager Siddharth Sharma and withdraw the FIR lodged against him, Sharma said, “I respect his feelings, but the law will do its job, because the people of the state have the right to know what happened to him in the last moments of the singer.”

The Chief Minister said that Zubin’s manager was with him and the police would have to interrogate him and those who were with him at the time of the singer’s death.

Sharma appealed to the people not to maintain peace and create such a situation, which led to any untoward incident. He said, “Let us all give him a final farewell with dignity and respect, which he deserves.”

Sharma said that after the singer’s body was taken from Arjun Bhogeshwar Barua Sports Complex (earlier Sarusjai Sports Complex) from his residence, people will be able to pay tribute to him from 9 am to 7 pm on Sunday after being taken to Sarusjai Sports Complex.
