The air quality in the capital Delhi once again reached ‘very poor’ category and the average air quality index (AQI) level was recorded at 336. This information was received from the data of ‘Sameer’ app of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to station-wise data, air quality was the worst in Nehru Nagar, where it was in the ‘very poor’ category across 360 stations. Apart from this, air quality was recorded in ‘very poor’ category in 21 more stations, while in ‘poor’ category in 14 stations and ‘moderate’ in two stations. The air quality in the city was recorded in the ‘poor’ category on Tuesday.
According to CPCB classification, AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for dense fog in the morning and afternoon.
An outbreak of severe cold was witnessed in North India on Tuesday, where along with snowfall in the hilly states, the temperature dropped in many areas including the capital Delhi. The first ‘cold day’ of this year was recorded in the capital Delhi on Tuesday.
According to the IMD, a cold day is declared when the maximum temperature remains 4.5 to 6.4 degrees Celsius below normal.
The minimum temperature in the morning was recorded at 8.6 degrees Celsius, which was 1.7 degrees above the average temperature.
The maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to be around 15 degrees Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department said relative humidity levels in some parts of the city were recorded at 95 percent in the morning.
According to station-wise data, Safdarjung recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Lodhi Road at 7.7 degrees, Ridge at 7.5 degrees, Ayanagar at eight degrees and Palam at 7.1 degrees.
