Asia cup 2025: The Supreme Court rejected the petition seeking cancellation of the Asia Cup T20 cricket match between India and Pakistan on 14 September. The court clearly stated, “Let the match be, we will not stop it.” The petition was filed by four LLB students, who stated the match against the national spirit against Pakistan.

The petition was produced in the Supreme Court on 11 September for hearing. The petitioners said that playing a cricket match with Pakistan will be against the dignity of the nation in view of the recent Pahalgam terror attacks and operations like Operation Sindoor. He alleged that Pakistan shelters terrorists, and in such a situation, after the martyrdom given by our soldiers, the game with Pakistan will give a wrong message.

The petition said that “When our soldiers are losing their lives, we will play cricket with the country that supports terrorists, showing that we do not give importance to the martyrdom of those soldiers.” The petitioners also argued that this would hurt the sentiments of the victim families who have lost their loved ones at the hands of Pakistan terrorists.

Order of Maheshwari and Justice Vijay Bishnoi

During the hearing of the petition, Justice J.K. The bench of Maheshwari and Justice Vijay Bishnoi refused to give any interim order on it. The court asked the lawyer that he would not take any action to cancel the match. However, the petitioners urged that the case be heard early, but the court rejected it. This will be a historic contest between India and Pakistan at the International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on 14 September. Cricket matches between the two countries have always been a matter of curiosity, and the match will be held as an important match of the Asia Cup. After this decision of the Supreme Court, it became clear that a legal route could not be adopted to cancel the cricket match between India and Pakistan.
