New Delhi. The festival of Diwali is on 20 October. Earlier, the Modi government has given the gift of increase in DA and DR to central employees and pensioners. In the cabinet meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday, it was decided to give 3 % DA-DR to central government employees and pensioners. Additional DA and DR will be payable from July 2025. With this, the DA of central employees has now increased to 58 percent. Central employees will also get arrears with the announcement of DA. With this, on the occasion of Diwali, they will be able to buy things to please their family.
According to the information, the intention of the central government is to pay the salary of October to all its employees on the occasion of Diwali. Pensioners will also get pension before Diwali. Central personnel and pensioners will get DA increased with the salary and pension of October. 48 lakh employees and 68 lakh pensioners of the central government are going to get the benefit of increased DA and DR. The central government announces DA-DR for its employees and pensioners twice every year. DA is increased according to the rate of inflation.
The Modi government has also announced the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. It is believed that the Modi government will form the commission by December. Then, apart from all the employees and pensioners’ organizations, after talks with the state governments and the central government, the 8th Pay Commission will submit its report. The report is expected to be implemented in the late 2026 or early 2027. If the fitment factor is kept at 2.86 per cent by the 8th Pay Commission, it will see a significant increase in the salary of central employees and pension of pensioners.
