Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta along with her Cabinet colleague Ashish Sood visited the Lok Nayak Hospital in the national capital, where people injured in the blast near the Red Fort are being treated. He met the injured and inquired about their treatment.

At least eight people were killed and 20 injured in a high-intensity blast in a car loaded with passengers. Earlier, Rekha Gupta condoled the loss of lives and property and appealed to Delhiites to avoid rumors and maintain peace.
“The incident of car explosion near the Red Fort is extremely sad and worrying. I express my deepest condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this tragic accident. I pray to God that the injured get speedy recovery,” she said in a post on Twitter.
She said, “All possible assistance is being provided to the affected people. Teams of Delhi Police, NSG, NIA and FSL are jointly investigating the entire matter thoroughly. I appeal to all Delhiites to avoid rumors and maintain peace. Please rely only on the official information released by the police and administration.”
Speaking to ANI, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that a Hyundai i20 car exploded at Subhash Marg traffic signal near Red Fort in Delhi at 7 pm on Monday and some pedestrians were injured and some vehicles were damaged in the blast.

Initial reports indicate that some people have lost their lives. Within 10 minutes of receiving information about the blast, teams from Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch reached the spot.”
He further said, “I have also spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner and the in-charge of the Special Branch. The Delhi Police Commissioner and the in-charge of the Special Branch are present at the spot. We are considering all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation keeping all possibilities in mind. All options will be investigated immediately and we will present the results to the public.”
