An important and practical plan has been prepared to reduce the traffic pressure in the capital Delhi and provide public transport facilities to narrow streets. After the 9 meter and 12 meter buses running on the roads of Delhi till now, there are preparations to launch 7 meter long ‘mini electric buses’. The main objective of this initiative is to connect those residential areas and colonies with the mainstream transport system, where till now big buses were not able to enter due to lack of space. This scheme of the government will not only increase the convenience of the passengers, but will also help in taking the public transport network to every home.

3,330 new electric buses will be purchased according to the width and requirement of the roads, three different models will be included in the fleet.

To strengthen the transport system, a proposal has been prepared to purchase 3,330 additional electric buses. The special thing is that all these buses will not be of the same size, rather they will be selected according to the width of the roads and the crowd of passengers. Under this scheme, the maximum number will be of 9 meter long buses, whose number is proposed to be 2,330. At the same time, 500 12 meter long buses will be purchased for main routes and routes with heavy traffic. The biggest change will be seen in the form of 500 7 meter long mini buses, which can prove to be a game changer for narrow roads.

The problem of last mile connectivity will end, ‘mini buses’ will prove to be a boon for the elderly and students.

There are many areas of Delhi where people have to depend on e-rickshaws or autos to reach the metro or main bus stops. The new 7 meter long mini buses have been specifically designed to address this problem of ‘last mile connectivity’. These buses will be able to reach inside densely populated colonies. This will provide the biggest relief to the elderly, women and students, who will no longer have to travel long distances to catch a bus. This step has been taken in the direction of making Delhi’s public transport more inclusive and accessible.

Will get big help in the fight against pollution, Delhi’s air will improve by completely shifting to e-buses.

All the new buses proposed will be fully electric, which is a good sign for Delhi’s environment. Compared to diesel and CNG buses, electric buses not only have zero emissions but also make less noise. With these buses coming on the road, the amount of poisonous smoke in the air will reduce, which will have a direct positive impact on the pollution level of the capital. Besides, the huge expenditure on fuel will also be reduced, due to which this transport model will prove to be economically sustainable.

The aim is to reduce dependence on private vehicles, more than five thousand buses are already running on the roads.

A total of 5,336 government buses are currently operating on Delhi roads, out of which 1,162 buses are 9 meter long electric buses. After the addition of the new consignment, the number of electric buses will increase significantly. The government aims to have more than 5,000 electric buses running regularly in the coming time. The administration believes that when people get comfortable and air-conditioned bus service near their homes, they will reduce the use of their personal vehicles. This will not only solve the problem of traffic jams on the roads, but will also reduce the struggle for parking.
