The process of payment of traffic challan for the drivers in the capital Delhi is now being made very easy and hi-tech. It is often seen that after issuing the challan, the drivers have to face problems due to lack of cash on the spot, but now the solution to this problem has been found. Now challan for violating traffic rules on the roads of Delhi can be paid digitally on the spot.

Now facility of payment through debit and credit cards in e-challan machines, started in five traffic circles as a pilot project.

To implement this new system smoothly, the traffic police has updated the e-challan machines. Now payment through debit card and credit card will also be accepted through these machines. This initiative has been started as a pilot project. Its main objective is to make the entire process of challan payment cashless and transparent, so that there is no scope for any kind of irregularities and the work gets expedited.

The system will be implemented first in these five major areas of Delhi, areas from Narela to Connaught Place will be included.

In the initial phase, this new system is being tested in five specific traffic circles of Delhi. The areas where this facility has been launched first include Narela, Badarpur, Karol Bagh, Hauz Khas and Connaught Place. Along with card swiping, the facility of scanning UPI QR code has also been made available in the machines of traffic policemen deployed in these areas. This means that now you will be able to pay the fine immediately by scanning the code from your mobile.

Steps taken under Digital India campaign, corruption will be curbed and general public will get freedom from the hassle of cash payments.

This entire exercise is an important step towards promoting the Digital India campaign. Promoting digital payments will not only relieve citizens from the compulsion of carrying cash, but will also increase transparency in the system. Due to digital payment on the spot, the possibility of corruption in the challan process will also be reduced to a great extent. The administration believes that this will increase trust and cooperation between both the police and the public.

Apart from website and mobile app, now there is option of instant payment from the machine, drivers will get great convenience on the roads of Delhi.

It is noteworthy that in Delhi, there is already a facility for online deposit for payment of traffic challan through the official website and mobile app. But many times people want to settle the matter on the spot so that they do not have to go to court or online portal later. In such a situation, this new option of instant payment through e-challan machine will prove to be very helpful for the people. After the success of this pilot testing, it can be expanded to the whole of Delhi.
