The Bangladeshi Cell of South East Delhi Police has arrested 28 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants living illegally in India. The operation began with intense surveillance action which resulted in the apprehension of 28 Bangladeshi nationals from various places in the national capital. Interrogation revealed that they along with several others had entered India illegally from Khulna border in West Bengal.

All 28 detained migrants are being held in a temporary detention centre, where further necessary legal formalities for their deportation are actively underway.

A total of 235 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants have been deported so far, and the deportation process for 28 recently apprehended persons is in progress. Initial profiling shows that these people are mostly unskilled, working as ragpickers, agricultural laborers or in other day jobs. None of them had valid documents or permission to stay in the country.

Earlier, a team of the Operation Cell of South West district had detained two illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, who were living in India without valid visa documents for the last two years, police said.

According to officials, after all the formalities are completed, the deportation process has been initiated with the assistance of the Delhi-based Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Police identified the detained as Mohammad Abdulaziz Mian (46), a resident of Sakhipur in Tangail district of Bangladesh and Mohammad Rafiqul Islam (29), a resident of Kaliganj, Ghazipur district of Bangladesh. Are.

“Meanwhile, a tip-off was received about the stay of an illegal Bangladeshi migrant in Mahipalpur area. Acting immediately, the team reached the spot and with the help of the informer, identified two suspects and conducted thorough interrogation. On asking for valid visa and travel documents, both the persons were unable to produce any document and admitted that they had come to India about two years ago, but had stayed here even after the expiry of the visa period,” the police said in a statement.
