Aviation regulator DGCA on Saturday issued a show cause notice to IndiGo Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Elbers seeking an explanation for the massive disruption in flights. Sources gave this information.
There has been a lot of disruption in IndiGo flights for five consecutive days, hundreds of flights are being canceled and aircraft operations are getting delayed, causing trouble to thousands of passengers.
In the notice, the regulator said the large-scale operational failures indicate significant lapses in planning, oversight and resource management, sources said.
“…as the CEO, you are responsible for ensuring effective management of the airline, but you have failed in your duty to ensure timely arrangements for reliable operations and to provide requisite facilities to the passengers,” the notice said.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also asked Albers to respond within 24 hours.
The notice also mentioned that adequate arrangements were not made for the airline to meet the revised requirements for smooth implementation of the approved FDTL (Flight Duty Time Limitation) scheme, which was the main reason for flight disruption.
The regulator has also issued a show cause notice to the accountable manager of IndiGo.
