DGCA directs Indigo airline, passengers will get refund amount in three working days
Relief news for passengers: Directorate General of Civil Aviation gave clear instructions to Indigo, there is a need to complete the ticket refund process quickly.
The country’s largest airline IndiGo has been directed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to speed up the refund of tickets of affected passengers and complete the process within the next three working days. The objective of these guidelines is to provide relief to passengers from long waiting times and inconvenience. Lakhs of passengers were affected due to the recent widespread cancellations and delays in IndiGo’s flight services. This is why the airline needs to complete the refund process faster.
DGCA has clarified that passengers whose applications for refund of tickets have already been filed will get their money back in three working days. Along with this, IndiGo and online travel agencies have been directed to ensure that there is no unnecessary delay in refunds.
The government guideline also clarifies that if the ticket is booked directly through IndiGo’s website or any other official channel, the refund process is already in progress. At the same time, the refund of tickets which have been applied for through any third party app or agency will be completed as soon as possible.
The move comes amid growing complaints and frustrations from passengers after IndiGo’s flight services faced widespread disruption in the first week of December. The passengers affected by this had lodged complaints with the airline administration and the government regarding non-payment of refunds promptly.
The Civil Aviation Ministry says that “there should not be any delay in the refund process and passengers should get their due.” The time limit of three working days has been fixed so that the passengers’ money can be deposited back into their banks as soon as possible.
However, some reports suggest that the refund process has not been entirely smooth, and there are still complaints from passengers. But government officials have assured that monitoring will continue to protect the interests of passengers.
